Operations Manager

Job Summary:

Brett Robinson Vacation Rentals is searching for a dynamic and highly driven individual to work alongside our Operations Officer in the development, implementation and administration of the company’s strategic goals and objectives.  We are a successful, locally owned and highly entrepreneurial company specializing in short-term vacation rentals.  Our company has been in business for more than 35 years and is the area’s market leader, producing over 4% of the entire state’s lodging revenue.  We are ideally located on the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Alabama. Yes, Alabama has an impressive 32 miles of beautiful beaches!  

Brett Robinson Vacation Rentals focuses on three very distinct, yet symbiotic types of business:

  1. Vacation Beach Rentals: With an excess of 70,000 reservations a year, this market fuels our entire organization.
  2. Vacation Rental Property Owners: These are the clients for which we work.  Property owners demand nothing less than the highest revenue return on their second home or investment property.
  3. Real Estate Sales: We are a sales organization first and foremost.  Our management team works in a supporting role to our affiliated, very successful and unique Real Estate operations.

The Operations Manager will provide support to and work closely with the Operations Officer in designing operating systems aimed toward improving business operations and increasing profitability.  We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about finding more effective ways to accomplish the task, ways to decrease costs and ways to effectively meet goals while maintaining the highest level of service to our customers.  The ideal candidate is a team player, is eager to collaborate and is motivated by a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment. 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Providing support and direction to the Operations Division to ensure attainment of organizational and departmental objectives, as well as assure peak performance and productivity.
  • Serving as a key member of the management team, working closely with the Operations Officer and department managers, to establish organizational goals, objectives, strategies, and priorities, and to ensure they are effectively carried out.
  • Assuring senior leadership receives appropriate guidance, support, tools, supplies and training to enable them to effectively carry out their responsibilities and strengthen their skills and capabilities. 
  • Monitoring daily department operations and coordinating resources in order to meet organizational goals. 
  • Acting as a strategic partner on the management team and working closely with them to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.
  • Coaching and developing the management team to ensure they are delivering against key business metrics. 
  • Researching methods to improve quality, efficiency and productivity, reduce costs, increase profits, and improve control measures. 
  • Motivating and leading a high-performance management team. 
  • Collaborating with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the Company. 
  • Working autonomously while ensuring expectations are readily met and exceeded.
  • Fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. 

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Leading and managing highly effective teams.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels expertise. 
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical and strategic thinker. 

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced and multi-faceted.
  • Occasional Saturday availability to attend association meetings.
  • This is not a remote position.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
