Operations Officer

Job Summary:

Brett Robinson Vacation Rentals is searching for a highly motivated leader with the experience, knowledge, skill-set and mind-set for maximum leadership and management.  We need an individual adept at researching, designing, implementing, promoting and maintaining techniques and processes for improving business operations and increasing profitability.  This position is ideal for a Marine Corps Infantry Officer considering the leadership skills required for their job combined with the extensive training in tactical planning and direction required to accomplish missions.  

We are a successful, locally owned and highly entrepreneurial company specializing in short-term vacation rentals.  Our company has been in business for more than 35 years and is the area’s market leader, producing over 4% of the entire state’s lodging revenue.  We are ideally located on the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Alabama. Yes, Alabama has an impressive 32 miles of beautiful beaches!  

Brett Robinson Vacation Rentals focuses on three very distinct, yet symbiotic types of business:

  1. Vacation Beach Rentals: With an excess of 70,000 reservations a year, this market fuels our entire organization.
  2. Vacation Rental Property Owners: These are the clients for which we work.  Property owners demand nothing less than the highest revenue return and quality service on their second home or investment property.
  3. Real Estate Sales: We are a sales organization first and foremost.  Our management team works in a supporting role to our affiliated, very successful and unique Real Estate operations.

The Operations Officer is part of a dynamic executive team and is responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, and administration of the company’s strategic goals and objectives.  This role is responsible for several large departments with a combined personnel count of nearly 400 and handles a large percentage of the company’s internal affairs.  

The ideal candidate has experience designing operating systems and building and managing teams in a collaborative environment to achieve specific operating goals.  We are looking for an innovator!  Someone with the ability to recognize opportunities for operational improvement within an established company who will bring effective and workable solutions to the table.  We are looking for the candidate who is motivated by a challenging role and thrives in a chaotic, fast-paced and ever-changing work environment. 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • First and foremost is building and maintaining an effective team to ensure attainment of organizational and departmental objectives.
  • Strategic and tactile planning and execution of departmental operations. 
  • Looking for methods to improve quality, efficiency and productivity, reduce costs, increase profits, and improve control measures. 
  • Monitoring daily department operations and coordinating resources in order to achieve organizational goals. 
  • Serving as a key member of the senior management team, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Department Managers, to establish organizational goals, objectives, strategies, and priorities, and to ensure they are effectively carried out.
  • Collaborating with the senior leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the Company. 
  • Coaching and developing the leadership team to ensure they are delivering against key business metrics. 
  • Acting as a strategic partner on the leadership team and working closely with the team to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.
  • Fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. 
  • Motivating and leading a high-performance management team. 
  • Working autonomously while ensuring expectations are readily met.
  • Achieving goals within budgets, reporting on key metrics necessary to achieve organizational objectives while maintaining profitable operations. 
  • Leveraging technology to improve communications, streamline business operations and improve overall performance.

  • Team building in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels expertise. 
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker. 

Education:

  • Graduate of Command and Staff College (mandatory)
  • Graduate of School of Advanced Warfighting (preferred)

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced and multi-faceted.
  • Occasional weekend availability.
  • This is not a remote position.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
